In the glorious Society Ballroom, you’ll find a room of grand marble columns soaring to an exquisitely muraled ceiling, some thirty five feet above the dance floor.

A sweeping staircase flows down from the 3,000 square foot balcony, providing a dramatic focal point for grand entrances and photographic opportunities. Marble, limestone, brass and bronze accents adorn the opulent Ballroom in a setting right out of the Great Gatsby. Immediately adjacent to the Ballroom are three additional lounge or function spaces, each with their own special historic character, each with their own seating and full-service bar.

The fact that it used to be a bank always intrigued me. I love the open space, the murals upstairs, and the street access out front. The wedding venue offers a ton of great spots to take pictures. This venue provided me with more than any bride or groom could dream of. From the moment I Googled "Wedding Venues in Hartford CT" I fell in love with the beautiful space that is The Society Room. At my very first visit I was in awe and knew that my guests would be at their first glance. The coordinator and GM were with me every step of the way through the planning process and made it remarkably easy. All email inquiries were responded to within a more than reasonable manor. The floor manager and personal server the day of my wedding were absolutely outstanding. There was not a moment that we were not catered to, They literately made me feel like royalty. The food was cooked to perfection - the soup was steaming, The salad was crisp, and the beef melted in your mouth. If you are looking for a wow factor of a venue with high class service than look no further!

The Society Room of Hartford is a fantastic wedding venue. From the food to the impeccable service everything was wonderful. The space is unique, dramatic, and different from most of your typical wedding venues. Our guests were wowed by the space, and truly impressed with the food and service. When any issues arose, the staff was gracious, quick, and discreet in addressing them. The staff took special care in providing accommodations for us, our wedding party, and our guests and went out of their way to accommodate any "special" requests we had. They helped my husband and I truly relax and enjoy our special day. I would highly recommend the Society Room of Hartford!

We got married at the Society Room in September. The staff were professional and made everything so easy. We had attending one of the mock weddings earlier in the summer and picked out our food and decor based on the options displayed on that day. Our guests were all complimentary of how smoothly everything ran, how tasty the food was, and how beautiful the Society Room's facilities are. The location is also really convenient to local hotels. Our families and friends were able to walk from hotel to the Society Room, from Society Room back to hotel and then out to dinner in Hartford afterwards, which was also very convenient. We would do it all there again in a minute, it was the best day of our lives and the photos are gorgeous :)

My husband and I were very happy with this venue. Not only is it gorgeous but the staff was professional and great to work with. I felt at ease when talking to Dana because she really knew what she was doing and was always on top of things. The food was great. All of our guests raved about the food. There were so many appetizers that some people said they were practically full before the main course. We really have no complaints and either did our guests. We would recommend this venue to anyone looking for a gorgeous place to have a reception.

I found the Society Room of Hartford online, months before I was even engaged, and I fell in love. Once wedding planning began, I checked out other places but it was in vain: the Society Room was the perfect place, it seemed. And I turned out to have been right. From the first meeting to the final goodbye, the staff was friendly, accommodating, and professional. By the end I was sad to not have an excuse to email or call them up with questions; they seemed almost like friends. The food was delicious, the bars lacked for nothing, and the ambience is amazing. The compliments are still coming in about what a unique and wonderful location we chose for our reception. The proximity to hotels in Hartford is nothing to laugh at, either. Truly, I will remember my wedding day for the rest of my life as a perfect day, in large part due to the hard-working staff at the Society Room. Thank you guys!

If you are looking for a venue in the Hartford area- this is it! The Society Room is by far the most opulent and versatile space in Hartford- believe me...we looked! It combines some of the great history of Hartford with first-rate service and catering on the cutest street downtown. We had a lot of out of town guests, so the proximity to numerous hotels and the free on-site parking was great. The wedding planner and cake designer both did fantastic jobs and were a lot of help in getting ready for the big day. The most amazing feature of the Society Room is the way the space photographs- our wedding photos look like they're from a magazine photo shoot, and every room (and there are many) makes a gorgeous backdrop. It was a great value for the money and there were so many options to customize your event- you'll only regret going somewhere else!

I was amazed the second that we stepped into the Society Room for our wedding reception. I thought every detail was taken care of (sandals, napkins, matches and the pictures) perfectly. The gentleman that was in charge of making sure my wife and I was taken care of all night did a fantastic job. I don’t think I ever was without anything I wanted. His attention to detail and caring for us all night was awesome. He made sure everything was perfect from the bridal suite, to the dinner, throughout the night. I am so bad with names, the lady that was in charge of the floor was great to. She made sure everything was right on time and it all flowed throughout the night. I could go on and on about how perfect everything was all night. I am speechless about the professionalism of the Society Room. Here is a good recap of the top 4 things we heard from every guest that we had at the wedding: 1) It is the most beautiful reception hall that they have ever been to for a wedding. 2) They were the best appetizers that they have ever had at an event before. 3) The dinner was the best dinner that they have ever had at a wedding before. 4) It was the best wedding reception that they have ever been to. I know that I sound a little repetitive with my comments above, but till today, I am still hearing about how great and beautiful the Society Room was and how my wife's girlfriends that are getting married will never be able to top this. Those 4 comments above mean a lot to my wife and I and the Society Room was really a stand above any reception that I have ever attended and I was in 12 weddings the last 2 years. Once again thanks to you Dana that made this all happen for my wife and I and being there at our every need and explaining things along the way to both of us. You were great and you really made us feel comfortable the entire time. I think it all starts with a great planner and you did a great job. I wish you were there, I know you would have had a great time as well. Thank you again and the staff at the Society Room again for everything and making our fairytale wedding come true.

Excellent food, excellent coordinator (Dana). Gorgeous venue. They do have a strict alcohol policy -- make sure all of your guests have IDs with them, they will cut people off if they think the guests have had enough to drink, which was annoying because I had to deal with that during the reception because some friends were pointed out as "maybe had enough to drink", and when I talked to them, they seemed fine. As the bride, a little annoying. The food and place are absolutely top notch, 100%, you get what you pay for. But be advised, the alcohol policy is tight -- people's can't "leave the building and get a shot and come back" if they suspect they are doing that, as they let us know. I have no complaints, but that was a weird hassle and not what I would have expected. I guess they've had bad experiences in the past, but be ready to be given "the talk" about booze during your final meeting. We paid about $165 a head and were a little disappointed I had to deal with this issue. Other than that, this is the most beautiful, professional, gorgeous venue and I would NEVER change a thing.

The Society Room is fantastic. From the amazing ambiance to the delicious food and exceptional service, The Society Room can not be beat. Many of our wedding guests indicated that our wedding was the best wedding they have ever been to. It is different than the traditional venues as it is in the city and the inside looks like no other reception hall I have ever seen and I have been to a lot of weddings. I really felt like I was a character in the Great Gatsby. The details inside the building our phenomenal as it is a very old building. With some reception halls, you are paying for the place (i.e. it is on the water or really pretty inside), at The Society Room, it isn't all about the place. The food was five star and the staff was so attentive to our guests. I would highly recommend that anyone planning a function visit The Society Room!
