[shareaholic app=”share_buttons” id=”4830626″]We love the holiday season for many, many reasons, but one of our favorite parts of this time of year is the beautiful winter weddings that fill our inbox. There’s just something unique and special about a wedding day that combines the spirit of the holidays with the magic of love between two people. Case in point: This stunning wedding shared with us by Kelly Kirkland Photography. Taking place just a few days after Christmas, Shannon and Drew day was everything a wedding should be — sweet and romantic, friend and family-oriented, and totally gorgeous!
Concentrating on including venues into their day that had special meaning and close proximity to their hometowns in Connecticut, Shannon and Drew eventually decided to host their Catholic ceremony at St. Mary’s in New Haven, a picturesque old cathedral that holds the title as the second oldest church in the state. The choice proved to be one of their favorites. As bride Shannon shared, “Father Allen welcomed us in and took the time to get to know us. As a result, our ceremony became very personal and special. The atmosphere of the church and the Yale campus right after Christmas made our day unique.”
The couple’s choice to host their reception at the lovely Omni Hotel ballroom in New Haven proved to be a smashing success as well. Not only was the backdrop beautiful, the sparkly winter decor — featuring a classic white and silver cake from Julia’s Bakery and elegant rose floral arrangements from Fleur de Lys — and the holiday accents totally blew their guests (and us!) away! We know it’s sometimes hard to envision a holiday wedding done right, but we must say that this duo definitely hit the mark with their understated palette selection and their timeless style. We have no doubts you’ll agree once you see the breathtaking images just below.
