Your wedding day is one of the most important events in your life, so it is perfectly normal to be a little nervous about it. After months and months of planning, dress rehearsals, and cake tastings it has finally arrived and you want everything to be as perfect as you imagined it. Of course, by now you have surely been warned about all the things that could go wrong on your big day, but that is not a reason to panic and walk on eggshells waiting for something unexpected to happen. After all, it is your special day and it should be filled with laughter, love, joy, and happiness so take a deep breath, follow these guidelines and you will manage to stay calm and collected and keep everything under control.
Create an emergency kit
Your makeup might get smudged from all the kissing, your dress might accidentally rip and the wind might mess up your hair, but all those problems can be easily solved with one emergency kit. Get a small bag where you will put your make-up, safety pins, hairspray, hairpins, and some backup jewelry pieces. Maybe you spent months choosing the perfect rose quartz necklace that matches your hair accessory, or a pair of diamond earrings that really make your dress pop, but if you lose them in all that commotion it is wise to have a plan B. After all, every bride needs a little bling and this way you won’t get stressed if a piece of jewelry goes MIA. It is also clever to pack a pair of comfortable shoes, so you can have fun with your new husband on the dance floor without your new wedding shoes causing you pain.
Find a person of trust
Have you hired a wedding coordinator? If so, make sure they are there on the big day to keep everything under control. You might pay a little extra, but it will be well worth it. In case you have planned everything by yourself, make sure that you entrust a friend or reliable family member with being the coordinator for the day. Give your photographer, florist, caterers, and band their phone number, so they can deal with problems while you relax and focus on more important things.
Get enough sleep
You definitely want to be a vision in white, and there is no makeup in the world that can cover puffy eyes and dark circles so make sure you go to bed early the night before. Not only will you have one less problem to worry about, but you will also avoid feeling tired and cranky on the big day. When you wake up have a good breakfast (don’t worry, your dress will still fit) because a hungry bride is a nervous bride.
Focus on yourself
It is your special day and you are not responsible for making other people happy. If you spend the whole afternoon worrying whether everyone is getting along and solving conflicts between your relatives or other guests, you can end up in a bad mood. Therefore, just spend time with guests who are having fun and especially your new husband. Keep in mind that you cannot meet everyone’s expectations, so if someone complains about the seating arrangement or their food just ignore them. They are being rude and do not deserve a minute of your time.
Take a break
If you are feeling stressed or overwhelmed, find a quiet place where no one will disturb you (it can be your room or even the restroom) and take time to calm yourself by taking deep breaths.
The most important thing is to remember that your wedding day is all about you, your husband and celebrating your love, so if something does go wrong just consider it a sign of good luck.
